Understanding Copyright

It is important to remember when you observe art: The image belongs solely to the artist. Even if you purchase the art, you are purchasing the paper, the ink and the packaging, but not the copyright to the image. Thus, regardless of whether you purchase art or just observe it…Taking a photo of it, recording it, or transmitting it, is a violation of copyright law and steals from the artist. Even an “innocent” photo creates an unauthorized copy which potentially devalues the future value of the work. Typically the less that are produced the more valuable things are. The same is true with art.

Please respect and support the artist by refraining from photographing or recording artwork and only showing art you have purchased to others in person.

Andie hopes that if you have purchased her art that it brings you years of enjoyment, more than a few smiles, and encourages you to have a positively waggish day!
